Goose down is a unique insulation highly praised for its lightweight, compressibility and unbeatable warmth ratio. Russia has old tradition of goose down production. In cold Russian climate, geese naturally produce down with bigger clusters that help birds to survive severe winters. Also, selected breeds of geese are being raised to an older age, meaning that birds produce higher grade down with thick clusters, and then plucked alive. That is why Russian raw materials are greatly appreciated around the World. Bask has exclusive access to the best goose down sources in Russia and its own down processing facilities equipped according with the latest technological standards to produce the very best down.
Along with goose down, Bask accepts custom orders for our pure eiderdown clothing collection. This extremely rare substance is light, does not absorb moisture, does not bunch up and according to shamans, even has healing property.
Durability
All new materials and products undergo a throughout testing by Bask high qualified experts. After tough tests only 1/5 of new models are approved for mass production. North American customers compare Bask products with durability of Russian tanks or work trucks that boast plenty of low end power. Warm and closed seams for down outwear, cross-lateral trapezium down filling, 19 step down-feather separation process, Nikwax washing and treating of down, membrane thermal welding, taped seams, waterproof zippers - all go as reasons why Bask technology stands above the crowd.
European Outdoor Group Standard EN 13537
EN 13537 was approved to standardize the temperature ratings announced by the manufacturers. All sleeping bags delivered to shops in Europe after January 1, 2005 should conform to the standard. Bask company is one of the first who started EN testing of its goose down sleeping bags. Completed test reports of some Bask sleeping bags are now available in our online catalog.
Solid worldwide reputation
Bask clothing and equipment have been tested and approved in many expeditions around the globe. Our down jacket Khan-Tengry has proved its excellent functionality on all the world's fourteen 8000 meter peaks. The most prestigious climbing award in the world `Piolet d'Or', has been granted to Russians four times: 1998 Yekaterinburg team - West Face of Makalu; 2002 -Valery Babanov - solo-climb of Mery The Central; 2004- duo of Valery Babanov and Yuri Koshelenko - Nuptse; 2005 - St-Petersburg's team leaded by Alexander Odintsov - North Face of Jannu . All these projects were proudly equipped and supported by Bask.
A cooperative agreement between UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d` Alpinisme) and Bask has granted us an exclusive right to affix the UIAA quality tag to down filled jackets, suits and pants designed for extreme weather conditions. Models that are manufactured with the 'UIAA - Partner' designation, have passed the necessary tests and are made from Pertex fabrics with the use of elite-quality down from Russia.
